Iowa City’s “Black American Gothic”

by Emily Woodbury

Emily sits down with contributors to CrossingBorders.us, Ted Gutsche (co-founder of Iowa Watch) and Raquel Baker (UI Grad Student) to discuss the screening of “Black American Gothic”, a documentary by Carla Wilson. The film tells the stories of those living on the supposed “Southeast side” of Iowa City, the goal being to abolish some of the negative stereotypes associated with the area, and to promote discussion that could lead to positive political and social action.
