By Kendall McCabe and Max Johnson

Six Organs of Admittance is the primary musical output of Ben Chasny. The experimental/noise one-man-band began humbly in 1998, with a self-titled, self-released LP. Since then, Six Organs of Admittance has released a multitude of recordings, most notably the album “School of the Flower,” and has become an incredibly influential force in the genre. Additionally, he has played guitar as part of Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy’s touring band, as well as in Badgerlore, Comets on Fire, and Current 93. Chasny will perform at the Englert Theatre on Thursday, August 4 for 100 audience members who will be seated on the stage with him.

Supporting act Alex Body is one of the hardest working musicians in a town full of hard-working musicians. The ambient-noise pieces he prolifically creates are like field recordings at a haunted Native American burial ground. Distorted chants, incantations, and ghostly noises loop around themselves until the listener feels possessed, caught by Body’s attention to detail.

Iowa City’s own noise overlords Lwa will round out the performance with their deconstructed, haunting compositions.
